Electricity rates in Oshawa will be on their way up if an application from Oshawa Power gets the go-ahead from the Ontario Energy Board.
Oshawa’s utility company has applied to the board to raise its rates by a little over three per cent, which would be effective January 1, 2026.
If the application is approved electricity rates for a typical household would go up about $6.70 per month. Business customers who use less than 50 KW per month would see their rates spike $14.22 per month.
Customers have a right to participate in the process. Visit www.oeb.ca/notice to review the application, file a letter with your comments or apply to become an intervenor.
The deadline to participate is June 9.
