Etobicoke house fire leaves one person dead [Video]

One person is dead after a fire broke out at a home in south Etobicoke Saturday night.

Fire crews were called to a two-storey detached home on Miles Road, south of Lake Shore Boulevard West, around 6:41 p.m.

“There was visible flames through the front window. Crews managed to get the fire under control very quickly,” Deputy Fire Chief Paul Fitzgerald said.

Firefighters located one person inside the burning home and rescued them. Toronto police said the resident had no vital signs and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I’d like to extend our sincere condolences to any family, friends, or the local community that have been impacted by this tragic loss of life,” Fitzgerald said.

No one else was injured in the fire.

He noted that Toronto Fire Services investigators had been called to the scene.
