Fatal highway crash leads to dangerous operation charges for Brampton driver [Video]

Police have charged a Brampton driver with the death of a commercial truck driver killed in a crash on an Ontario highway last year.

The two-vehicle collision happened on Highway 17A near Kenora on Feb. 20, 2024, the OPP says.

Officers were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m. and said an SUV collided with a commercial motor vehicle.

The driver of the commercial vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Police say.

The driver of the SUV also suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Now, more than a year after the fatal crash, police have charged a 31-year-old driver.

The OPP says Singh Varinder, 31, of Brampton has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and dangerous operation causing death.

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Kenora on …
