A cloudy day is on the way for southern Ontario with flurries, brisk winds and temperatures plunging to -25 C in some areas.

The morning sky won’t offer much of a sunrise for those hoping to catch Tuesday’s 7:10 a.m. spectacle, as flurries and cloud cover will dominate the sky.

Light flurries are expected throughout the morning, with local snowfall amounts of up to 2 cm. Winds will gust up to 40 km/h from the northwest, making already cold temperatures feel even more biting.

Morning wind chills will range from -20 C to -24 C across the region, with Mississauga, Brampton, Durham, and Hamilton feeling the brunt of the cold. By the afternoon, the wind chill will ease slightly, sitting between -13 C and -15 C.

Daytime highs will remain chilly, with Mississauga, Brampton and Durham reaching -7 C, Halton hitting -6 C, and Hamilton staying colder at -8 C.

Sunset is begins at 5:48 p.m.
