Five people have been displaced following a Monday morning fire in Ottawa’s Beacon Hill neighbourhood.
The Ottawa Fire Services says an occupant of a two-storey home on Crownhill Street called 9-1-1 at 7:45 a.m., reporting their home was “filling up with smoke.”
Officials say the fire started in a solarium at the back of the home and spread to the basement and the kitchen that was located right off the solarium.
“Firefighters initiated a fast attack and advanced a hose line to the back of the home,” Ottawa fire said on X.

All occupants of the home had safely exited by the time firefighters arrived.
The fire was declared under control at 8:35 a.m.
Officials say four adults and a child will be displaced and are receiving victim assistance.
A man was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, according to paramedics.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
