BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Winds will continue to remain strong and damaging for the next several hours. This will continue to result in a growing number of power outages. Improvement will be observed first towards parts of western Maine all as a low level jet continues to move eastwards. As of now that jet is positioned from Cape Cod extending over the Bangor region. As this jet continues to move east, winds will increase especially for Downeast areas. For the Bangor region, winds will begin to weak shortly after midnight whereas Downeast strong winds will continue through about 3-4 AM. Downeast is also where I expect the strongest gusts to continue to be as they could exceed 60 mph.

Expected wind gusts for the rest of the night.Improvement expected from west to east after midnight.(wabi)

A FIRST ALERT will remain in effect for tonight through sunrise Thursday due to …
