Five alleged impaired drivers charged over the weekend [Video]

Essex County OPP officers have charged five drivers with impaired driving over the weekend.

On Saturday at 1:11 a.m., a member of the Kingsville Detachment was on patrol and observed a vehicle travelling below the posted speed limit on County Road 45 in Kingsville. The officer conducted a traffic stop.

As a result, a 26-year-old resident was arrested and charged with:

· Failure or refusal to comply with demand

· Driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA Sec 41/42

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on Jan. 7, to answer to the charges.

On Sunday at 2:21 a.m., members of the Leamington Detachment were conducting a Festive RIDE on Erie Street North in Leamington. As the vehicle pulled up, the officer approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver.
