Environment Canada has issued a flash freeze warning for parts of southern Ontario saying to expect a “dramatic drop” in temperature.
The warning was put out shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday for communities near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay including Stratford, Owen Sound, Tobermory, Goderich and Kincardine.
The agency says temperatures are expected to fall rapidly causing water, slush, and any falling precipitation to freeze.
“A dramatic drop in temperatures is expected near midnight with the passage of a sharp cold front.,” Environment Canada says, warning that highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
There are also travel advisories on for parts of the GTA with up to 5 cm of snow expected.
“Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” Environment Canada says.
