Flights are cancelled at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga due to the snowstorm heading to southern Ontario Wednesday afternoon.
The storm could bring up to 40 cm of snow in parts of the province starting in the late afternoon on Wednesday.
Officials at Pearson Airport are getting ready for the storm.
“The GTA’s biggest snowstorm of the season is expected to start this evening, with 20-25 cm of snow forecasted to fall at the airport,” Pearson said on X.
Traffic management initiatives will be in place tonight to ensure aircraft can safely arrive and depart, Pearson said. Crews will be out clearing runways, taxiways and apron areas through the night and into the morning.
But airlines have already cancelled several flights and travellers flying tonight might see impacts to their flights, Pearson said.
“If you’re flying today or tomorrow, please check the status of your flight with your airline,” Pearson suggested.
