Two candidates vying for votes in a Brampton provincial riding were one-time coworkers on Brampton City Council.
Former Brampton City Councillor Charmaine Williams stepped down from her municipal position to run in the riding for the Ontario PC party in the 2022 provincial election.
She won that race, defeating incumbent NDP candidate Sara Singh.
But Williams, who is also the Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, will face a new challenger in the upcoming election who is also a familiar face in former council coworker, Martin Medeiros.
Medeiros, the current sitting councillor for Brampton’s Wards 3 and 4 has officially taken a leave of absence from his duties at city hall to run for the Ontario Liberal Party under the leadership of former Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie.
