If the last two days of ice storms weren’t enough, more wintry weather is rolling into parts of Ontario Sunday evening and into Monday, which could affect morning commutes.
According to Environment Canada, a series of severe weather alerts are in effect with conditions ranging from thunderstorms and freezing rain to winter storms.
While Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Durham and Niagara regions are currently unaffected by the turbulent weather, conditions could change between Sunday and Monday.
Winter Storm (Sunday night through Monday morning):
Snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected, with peak snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour. There is also a risk of freezing rain.
Snow may transition to ice pellets in some areas tonight. Conditions are expected to improve by Monday morning, but rapidly accumulating snow and icy surfaces could make travel difficult.
Slippery conditions will create hazards on roads, highways and walkways.
