A frost advisory was issued for parts of Ontario Monday morning.

Temperatures dropped to near the freezing mark early Monday morning in cottage country areas north of Barrie, Environment and Climate Change Canada said.

Frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.

“Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas,” the advisory stated.

The advisory covered Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Gravenhurst, Huntsville and the Algonquin Park area.

Northern Ontario communities including Wawa and Kapuskasing also had a frost advisory.

Areas in northern Ontario, near and at the border with Manitoba, had a special air quality statement for smoke from forest fires.
