A frost advisory has been issued for parts of Ontario.

Residents, particularly gardeners and farmers, are being advised to protect vulnerable plants as temperatures are expected to dip Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

According to Environment Canada, overnight lows may approach the freezing mark, potentially damaging frost-sensitive plants and crops.

While southern regions, such as Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and Durham, are not currently affected, conditions could shift depending on local temperatures.

The advisory applies to areas farther north, where frost is more likely to develop in exposed or low-lying spots.

Residents in these regions are encouraged to take preventative steps such as covering plants or moving them indoors.

The following regions are under the frost advisory:

  • Agawa – Lake Superior Park
  • Armstrong – Auden – Wabakimi
  • ParkBeardmore – Jellicoe – Macdiarmid
  • Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake
  • Fraserdale – Pledger Lake
  • Geraldton – Longlac – Caramat
  • Kapuskasing – Hearst – Smooth Rock Falls
  • Manitouwadge – Hornepayne
  • Marathon – Schreiber
  • Nakina – Aroland – Pagwa
  • Wawa – Pukaskwa Park
