The Gallant family has run Gallant’s Country Food Market and gas station for nearly 100 years. Now Keith and Tammy Gallant have sold the business, partly to spend time with their young grandchildren, but don’t expect too much to change at the store. CBC’s Tony Davis reports.

Gallant’s Country Food Market in Rustico, P.E.I., has been owned by Keith Gallant’s family for nearly 100 years. Now it’s changing hands. 

Keith’s grandfather Amos Gallant opened the store in 1927 and ran it for decades before passing it on to his son George, who ran it for a few decades himself. 

For the last 35 years, Keith and his wife Tammy Gallant have been operating the business, which has become a staple in the community of Rustico and other communities along P.E.I.’s North Shore. 

“It is sad for us,” Keith Gallant said about selling his family’s store.
