A gang of robbers made off with an unspecified amount of merchandise during a smash-and-grab heist at Costco in Brampton.

According to Peel Police, several masked suspects burst into the large wholesale warehouse on Biscayne Cresent in the Steele Avenue East and Highway 410 area around 7 p.m. yesterday (April 14).

Reports indicate the gang used hammers to smash showcases that contained jewelry.

While trying to escape, a Costco employee tried to intervene but was struck by one of the culprits. The worker received minor injuries.

Several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen as a result of the crime.

The number of people involved is not yet known, and there has been no value attached to the goods that were stolen.

Police are continuing their investigation.
