Two goals from Andrew Gibson and 30 saves from Jacob Oster were enough for the Oshawa Generals to hand the powerhouse London Knights their first loss of the OHL playoffs Thursday night in the opener of the league championship series.

The winner of the best-of-seven can book their ticket to Rimouski and the 2025 Memorial Cup.

The series is a rematch of last year’s Ontario Hockey League final, a 4-0 sweep by London, but this year’s Generals’ squad is deeper and their returning stars – including overager Oster, last season’s Goaltender of the Year – are another year older and hungrier.
