The announcement comes as the Georgia Public Service Commission was notified that one area code is quickly running out of combinations.
The Georgia Public Service Commission was notified by the North American Number Plan Administrator — which oversees area code assignments across North America — that the 912 area code is quickly running out of combinations.
They say that by the second quarter of 2028, all potential 912 area code combinations will be exhausted. The 912 area code serves the southeast Georgia region, including Brunswick, Savannah, Richmond Hill, Waycross and elsewhere.
