‘Give people hope’: Government needs to be ‘more visible’ on Indigenous issues

Indigenous academic Anthony Dillon says the government needs to be “more visible” on Indigenous issues to “give people hope”.

The Labor government plans to open up remote Aboriginal communities to individual home ownership in order to ease the housing crisis for 92,000 Indigenous Australians living in locations classified as ‘very remote’.

“There’s activities that are happening all the time, and we don’t always see the activity or see the results of it,” Mr Dillon told Sky News contributor Steve Price.

“The Voice was so very, very visible – you couldn’t miss it.

“[The government] do need to be more visible, telling Australians what they are doing, and that will give people hope.”
