Donald Trump’s first month as U.S. president has been turbulent, with controversial remarks and executive orders straining alliances. His tariffs target key trading partners, including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the European Union, Japan and South Korea, prompting objections and calls for free trade protection. Trump’s tariff threats are also looming large over Asia, home to some of the largest suppliers to the U.S.’s steel, aluminium and semiconductor sectors.
