Just hours after a brief glimmer of hope from the White House, workers were met with grim news that has sparked calls for urgent intervention from union leaders.

The hammer is coming down on General Motors workers in Oshawa this fall when the auto giant plans to cancel the third shift, eliminating 700 jobs, with tariffs cited as the reason.
