The Kite Festival is coming back to the Lake of the Woods Resort this weekend after being cancelled last year due to weather.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The 5th annual Kite Festival at Lake of the Woods is kicking off Friday evening with a three-course Valentine’s Day dinner starting at 4 p.m. This comes a year after the festival was cancelled due to the lake not being iced over.

Brett Morris, the organizer of the festival, called the annual tradition “exciting”:

“On the west coast, we don’t have anywhere in Oregon, California, Washington [or] even in Canada that does any kind of kite flying on ice. To be able to go out in an open area where the wind is nice and clear, no buildings, no trees or anything is really kind of unique.”

The Kite Festival is running through Sunday, Feb. 16. A full festival schedule can be found …
