An upgrade to a busy GO Transit station will save some southern Ontario commuters about 15 minutes per round trip.
Metrolinx, the agency that operates Ontario’s GO Transit system, announced Wednesday that construction at West Harbour GO Station in Hamilton is now complete. The province also said an upgrade at the station will allow more than 250,000 travellers in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines to save time.
In a news release, the province said commuters used to face longer wait times due to a dead-end track that required trains to back into and out of the station. Now that the station is connected to the main Lakeshore West line, commuters from the Niagara region can expect faster commutes.
The province also said all trains travelling to and from Niagara Falls, including weekend and off-peak trips, will now stop at West Harbour GO Station.
