Goats return to help fight a war in Mississauga, Ontario [Video]

The goats are being released again in parts of Mississauga as city officials wage an ongoing war against harmful invasive plants.

As the City of Mississauga enters year two of its somewhat unique partnership with dozens of the four-legged hooved creatures, residents are invited to watch the goats do their job on Saturday at Erindale Park in the city’s west end. The animal-viewing event is part of an Invasive Species Awareness Fair taking place at the park from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The city says the grazing goats represent “a new and unique approach (to the area) to managing invasive plant species to help restore the city’s wetlands.”

The partnership with the common domesticated grazing animals proved successful last year, so the city’s forestry team looked to the goats again in 2025 to help restore and maintain natural spaces.
