Governor Polis celebrates 1st Canada-Colorado Friendship Day [Video]

DENVER, Colo. (KKTV) – Governor Jared Polis celebrated the first ever Canada-Colorado Friendship Day.

Polis raised the Canadian Flag at the Colorado State Capitol on Saturday to highlight the partnership between Colorado and Canada.

The Governor’s office highlighted the trade relationship between the two, saying that in 2023, Colorado exported $1.8 billion in Colorado goods and produce to Canada, accounting for 18% of Colorado’s trade exports.

“Raising the Canadian flag today is symbolic of our friendship, showing that when we work together, even in challenging times, we grow our economy and make the people of both sovereign nations better off,” said Polis.

This event comes after Polis reacted to President Donald Trump’s authorization of tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China through an executive order.

Polis expressed concern over the decision, claiming the tariffs will “increase the cost of everything from food to gas.”
