Hammer-wielding thieves rob drug store in Ajax, Ontario and send clerk to hospital [Video]

Police are on the hunt for three men after a drug store was robbed and a clerk assaulted with a hammer last week in Ajax.

Officers were sent to the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Salem Road in north Ajax February 7 after a robbery call. Three suspects entered the store just after 9 p.m. and began smashing display cases containing perfume. An employee confronted the suspects and was struck with a hammer, sustaining serious injuries.

The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

The victim was taken to Ajax-Pickering Hospital for treatment.

All three suspects are described as young brown men – 16-25 years old – with black medical masks covering part of their faces. Suspect #1 was 5’10” with a medium build and wearing a black bubble jacket, black pants and black shoes. He was carrying the hammer.

Suspect #2 was 5’5” with a slim build, wearing a black jacket, grey track pants and white shoes.
