Handgun and cash found after car crash leads to charges for 3 from Brampton [Video]

An investigation into a car crash on an Ontario highway ended with the recovery of a handgun, cash, and charges for three people from Brampton.

The traffic stop happened around 8 p.m. on Dec. 7 when officers from the OPP Manitoulin detachment were called about a vehicle hitting the shoulder on Highway 6 in the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands township.

Police say the vehicle was already damaged when it struck the shoulder, and officers tracked and stopped the vehicle to investigate.

But during the traffic stop officers found a handgun, ammunition and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint about a damaged vehicle hitting the shoulder on Highway 6 in the NEMI Township. Officers conducted a traffic stop.
