Weather warnings remain in effect for parts of Ontario that are seeing their “first heat event of the season.”

Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for areas west and northwest of Thunder Bay.

It’s expected the heat will end Wednesday night.

Until then, however, for areas in the southern part of the warnings, including Kenora, daytime highs of 28 C to 33 C are expected, the weather agency said.

Nighttime lows of 18 C to 21 C are forecasted, “providing little relief from the heat,” Environment Canada said.

Further north, highs of 28 C to 31 C are expected, with overnight lows of 16 C to 19 C.

“These conditions pose a health risk when you are not used to the heat,” the warnings said.

East of the warnings, a large part of the province is under a special weather statement, including Fort Hope and Moosonee.
