Heavy rain forecast this weekend in GTA and southern Ontario [Video]

Those heading outdoors this weekend should bring an umbrella—heavy rain is forecast in the GTA and southern Ontario.

Environment and Climate Change Canada said “significant rainfall amounts and strong wind gusts are possible” this weekend in Mississauga, Toronto, Burlington, Brampton, Oakville, Hamilton and Durham Region. The alert extends to the Niagara Region and much of southern Ontario.

The temperatures are also expected to soar in parts of the province, up to 20 C in southwestern Ontario on Friday.

In the GTA, Friday is expected to be sunny but highs will likely only reach around 11 C. The low could get down to 7 C in the evening.

But enjoy the sunny weather while you can.

The weather changes overnight on Friday with cloudy, rainy conditions expected on Saturday. A high of 13 C and low of 7 C is forecast with a 60 per cent chance of showers.
