A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for the Greater Toronto Area.

Heavy snow could reduce visibly Thursday morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada said in the advisory.

The advisory is in effect for all of the Greater Toronto Area and across southern Ontario from Grand Bend in the west to the Cornwall area in the east.

Bands of heavy snow are moving through the area may impact the morning commute, especially in urban areas, the advisory stated.

Snowfall accumulations of two to five cm are expected, though some melting is likely on paved surfaces.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” the advisory stated. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”

The areas in grey are under a winter travel advisory Thursday morning.
