A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Halton Region.
Heavy snowfall with total accumulations of five to 10 cm is expected, according to the advisory issued Thursday morning from Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The snowfall is expected to start Thursday morning and continue into the afternoon or evening.
The lake effect snow is expected to gradually weaken this afternoon, the advisory stated.
Drivers should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” the advisory stated. “Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.”
Drivers heading out to other areas in Ontario may want hold off. Up to 60 cm of snow is expected in areas to the north and west of the GTA.
