DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials met with county representatives from Rio Blanco, Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin counties on Friday to discuss the upcoming gray wolf winter release.
Those counties are where CPW is considering releasing the new group of 10-15 wolves that will be sourced from British Columbia, Canada. The groups met in Rifle to discuss initial planning, approaches to upcoming capture and release efforts, and an overview of potential release location criteria.

“As we move forward with the Colorado Wolf Restoration and Management Plan, which is mandated by law, we are committed to having conversations with local elected officials and communities near possible release areas,” said CPW Director Jeff Davis in a release.
