June is approaching, but summer-like weather may take its time arriving in southern Ontario. The month is expected to open with rain, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures before giving way to hotter days.

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the first half of the month (June 1 to 16) will bring a divide between northern and southern regions. While the north will see sunny skies and a gradual warm-up, southern Ontario is in for rainy periods and thunderstorms, with cooler-than-usual air holding steady.

From June 17 to 23, much of the province can expect more rain and thunderstorm activity, although temperatures will begin to climb.

By the final week of June (24 to 30), conditions are expected to improve slightly. Sunshine will return, though occasional showers may still roll through as the region shifts into more consistent warmth.
