Get ready to spring forward into daylight saving time as clocks will move ahead one hour next month!

Daylight saving time means moving the clocks forward an hour each spring for longer evenings and then setting them back in the fall to catch a bit more morning light before winter sets in.

This year, DST will begin on Sunday, March 9 at 2 a.m. Those who have clocks they need to change manually should set them one hour ahead before going to bed Saturday night.

Of course, clocks that are connected to a network (such as the clock on your smartphone and other smart devices) should update automatically, so you don’t have to worry about them.

Most of Canada, including Ontario, sets clocks forward in spring and back in fall, though some provinces skip the switch. Yukon, most of Saskatchewan and parts of B.C. and Quebec stay on standard time year-round.
