HIGHWAY CLOSURE: Long-term closures coming to major highways in Toronto, Ontario [Video]

If you thought winter’s icy grip would put the brakes on major road construction, think again.

Drivers commuting in and around Toronto should brace for both short-term and long-term traffic disruptions as the city undertakes significant infrastructure projects this winter, with some extending into 2027.

Starting Jan. 12, one northbound lane of the Don Valley Parkway will be closed between the Eastern Avenue on-ramp and Queen Street East to accommodate work on the Eastern/Adelaide Bridges Rehabilitation Project. This closure will remain in place until the spring.

Overnight closures will take place to establish the work zone. The Eastern Avenue on-ramp and one northbound lane of the DVP will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Jan. 12, and from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13.
