One of the stars of the Brampton Steelheads likely won’t be returning for his final year of eligibility in the Ontario Hockey League next season.

Luke Misa, a 19-year-old centre, says he will be joining Penn State University to play Division 1 hockey at the U.S. collegiate level.

The property of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, Misa could have remained in the OHL for one more season, but instead decided to head south as one of the first recruits under new NCAA rules that now allow Canadian junior players to join their ranks.

This past season, Misa was third on the Steelheads in scoring with 85 points in 67 games and had been with the squad since 2021.
