Ontario-bred filly Queen Charlotte, who won the $50,000 Alex Picov Championship over the boys in October, was named the 2024 Ajax Downs Quarter Horse of the Year – the first female horse to win the prestigious award since her dam Leanintoit won the same trophy in 2011.

The Horse of the Year honours were presented on International Women’s Day, no less, by the Quarter Horse Racing Owners of Ontario at their awards banquet Saturday at the Ajax Convention Centre.
