BUFFALO, N.Y. — Many Western New Yorkers enjoy traveling to Toronto. And, if all goes according to plan, in a few short years there will be a new way to complete that journey.
Having already secured a space to develop a docking site in St. Catharines, Hoverlink Ontario has now inked a lease for dock space near the Billy Bishop island airport on the Toronto waterfront.
It’s a significant step in the company’s plan, nearly a decade in development, to operate a hovercraft service connecting the two Canadian cities on Lake Ontario.
The trip between the two cities would take about a half hour and feature vessels carrying up to 180 passengers in climate controlled comfort, which is important because Hoverlink intends to operate the service year round.
