The reigning champions of the IIHF Women’s World Championship take to the ice on Thursday as Canada takes on Finland to open its tournament.
Canada beat the U.S. women’s team last April in New York to earn the gold medal in the competition. Finland won’t be an easy foe, however, setting up for an exciting matchup on Thursday afternoon between the Canadian and Finnish women’s national hockey teams, a matchup that takes place in České Budějovice, Czechia.
Finland is 0-1-0 (zero points) so far in the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship after falling by a tough 7-1 final score. Still, Finland won bronze in the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship, so Canada cannot afford to overlook its foe on Thursday.
