Human remains found on island in eastern Ontario identified [Video]

The identity of human remains found on an island on the St. Lawrence River near Gananoque has been confirmed to be a 68-year-old local man reported missing earlier this year.

OPP responded to the island after the body was discovered May 19. The Leeds County OPP Crime Unit conducted a detailed investigation and determined there was no foul play. The

Police said the man’s name will not be released out of respect to the family’s wish for privacy.
