About 700 Hydro One customers are without power in north Clarington after a collision on Darlington Clarke Townline near Highway 407.

Durham Regional Police said a vehicle struck a hydro box causing what they describe as a “large-scale power outage.”

Police are estimating the restoration of power by 6 p.m. but Hydro One officials are hopeful the power will be back on by 4 p.m.

The roadway remains open.
