ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WSFA) – The First Nation Bank building in downtown Andalusia will soon be a boutique hotel thanks to an $11 million investment.
While it’s known as a bank, the National Registered Historic Building was many things over the course of the century.
It was designed in 1901 by a well-known architect from Alabama.
It served not only as a bank, but a doctor’s office, dice throwing venue, salon and more.
“It was an honor for me,” said former employee Hilry Trawick.
Trawick was an elevator operator in the building in the 50s. He said back in the day, it was an honor to make at most 15 cents in tips.
The unveiling of this development was special to him and to the whole city.
