KATY, Texas — Igloo Products Corp. has expanded its February recall of 90-quart rolling coolers to include an additional 130,000 units after dozens of new injury reports, including fingertip amputations, federal safety officials announced May 8.
The expansion brings the total number of recalled Igloo 90 Qt Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers to nearly 1.2 million across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
According to the recall notice, the coolers’ tow handles can pinch users’ fingers against the cooler body, posing “fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.” Igloo said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coolers and contact the company for a free replacement handle.
Since the original recall, Igloo has received 78 injury reports, including 26 cases involving fingertip amputations, bone fractures, or lacerations.
