A 21-year-old man is facing multiple driving-related offences after he was caught speeding at more than 260 km/h on Highway 427 in Vaughan.

The OPP said in a news release Sunday that officers stopped a vehicle travelling at 262 km/h in the northbound lanes near Langstaff Road on Saturday.

The man was arrested at the scene and police say further investigations revealed he was impaired by alcohol.

Arjun Syan of Thorold is charged with several driving offences including operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, stunt driving and obstructing a licence plate.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle is to be impounded for 14 days. Syan is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on May 6.

The OPP is reminding motorists to slow down and never drive while impaired.
