Lambton OPP have laid charges against a commercial motor vehicle operator who improvised a trailer hitch by screwing a hitch into the floor of a cube van.

On Dec. 27, at roughly 5:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic top of the vehicle on Churchill Line, west of Blackwell Side Road.

The move was deemed not only to be unsafe, but highly illegal. Police issued ten traffic charges to the 68-year-old Sarnia driver, including failure to stop for police, charges related to improper attachments, unsafe combination of vehicles, and insecure load.

The accused will appear in Provincial Offenses Court to answer to the charges.
