Indigenous Peoples Day at the Toledo Museum of Art [Video]

The event on Oct. 16 is set to feature Native American history and culture.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Museum of Art will be celebrating indigenous culture and creativity for Indigenous Peoples Day on Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will be held outside of the museum. If the weather does not permit, it will be inside the Great Gallery, in the Green Building.

Native American songs and dances will be performed, along with a quillwork demonstration and art-making activities for families.

Activities:

  • Copper Face United, 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., Glass Pavilion Lawn: A Native American intertribal song and dance group.
  • Family Activities, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Family Center: Indigenous Peoples themed art-making activities available for all visitors. 
  • Quillwork Demonstration, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Monroe Street Lawn: Artist Leonard D. Harmon, will demonstrate zig-zag stich quillwork. The finished piece will be available for  later.
