More than 100 people gathered at the Library of Virginia on Friday for the closing event of its exhibit Indigenous Perspectives ahead of its official closing date Aug. 17.
The event featured informational tables from some of the 11 federally recognized indigenous tribes of Virginia, a drumming circle, traditional dancing and a food truck that served indigenous cuisine.
Representatives from Virginia’s tribes showcased regalia, art and precolonial artifacts, as well as information on their tribes’ current initiatives.
