COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -According to the AP, the white house is set to put new tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China starting on Saturday.
The tariffs being put in place will be 25% on imports from Canada and Mexico, and 10% on imports from China. Trump claimed the tariffs are to ensure greater cooperation from the countries on stopping illegal immigration and the smuggling of chemicals used for fentanyl. He also said the tariffs will boost domestic manufacturing and raise revenues for the federal government.
These new tariffs could also affect local markets and stores that primarily outsource their goods from other countries. A business owner we spoke with says if these tariffs increase the cost of goods, they expect to see fewer customers coming through their doors.
