Jackknifed truck blocks highway leading to charge for Brampton driver: police [Video]

Police have charged a Brampton trucker after a jackknifed transport truck blocked all westbound lanes of a busy Ontario highway for hours.

The single-vehicle crash happened early on Tuesday in Thames Centre on Highway 401, the OPP says.

Officers were called to the westbound lanes of the highway after a tractor trailer jackknifed, blocking all three lanes.

Crews worked to clear the disabled truck from the roadway as westbound traffic was detoured through Oxford County, police said.

It took two hours for workers to clear the scene.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash but a 46-year-old truck driver from Brampton was charged with one count of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, the OPP says.

The name of the accused has not been released.

Police say anyone who sees an unsafe driver on Ontario roads can call 9-1-1 to report if it is safe to do so.
