It will be a snowy start to the weekend with up to five centimetres expected in some parts of southern Ontario on Saturday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says the day will start with flurries ending in the morning in Mississauga, Toronto, Hamilton and across the GTA.

But some areas like Oshawa, Pickering, Ajax and Whitby will still be under a winter weather advisory that was issued on Friday afternoon.

Durham Region could have up to five centimetres of snowfall through Saturday while other parts of the province are expected to see less, the agency says.

“Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly,” the agency says.

The weather system is expected to break up by mid-day on Saturday.

In Mississauga, temperatures will be slightly above seasonal normals with a daytime high of 1 C that will feel more like -8 C with the wind chill. …
