The fate of a Winnipeg man who has confessed to killing four women but denies criminal responsibility will be decided Thursday after an unusual trial for the admitted serial killer.
The courtroom where the decision on Jeremy Skibicki’s fate will be delivered by a judge has about 100 seats and was filled to capacity at 10 a.m., with more people standing off to the side and others waiting in the hall.
Winnipeg police members and court staff were moved out of the gallery and into empty jury seats to try to make more room for more family and supporters.
Skibicki is in a prisoner’s box, wearing a grey T-shirt and facing the area where Court of King’s Bench Chief Justice Glenn Joyal will be seated.
